Script size problem when executing an Active Script job

Hi guys,

First of all, please note than i am an ASP/HTML/DHTML programmer and not

a SQL guru...

I need to execute a job on a  daily basis and i need to call some
propietary COM objects to do the task.
Yesterday i made a little test: i created a job (active script) to
create a  COM email  component and send it every 5 minutes and it works
perfectly.

My problem is that i need to put a lot of active code inside (not just
to sent the email !) and the SQL job rejects every character over 3800
bytes...

How can i execute then my long task ?

Regards and please help me

Javier

Javier,

I suggest that you encapsulate most of the code in a new (!) COM object.

This new COM can be constructed in VB6 or VC++ or whateverCOMtoolyoulike,
and will be a client of your other COM objects besides performing any other
work you shoud do.

Maybe a good alternative it to use Windows Scripting Host (WSH - search for
it at www.microsoft.com) and code everything as script (VBscript or
Javascript). Then try to 'shell' it from DTS package activescripting (if it
doesn't work you can yet 'shell' it from the new COM - see previous
paragraph!). This would be a plus to you that are used to work with scripts.
