 guru help needed: Consistency errors

Hi all,

I ran this statment: DBCC CHECKTABLE ('tableXXX')

and got these errors
DBCC CHECKTABLE ('tableXXX')

Server: Msg 8928, Level 16, State 1, Line 5
Object ID 1911677858, index ID 0: Page (4:1484760) could not be
processed. See other errors for details.
Server: Msg 8944, Level 16, State 1, Line 5
Table error: Object ID 1911677858, index ID 0, page (4:1484760), row
41. Test (nVarCols && (hdr->r_tagA & VARIABLE_COLUMNS)) failed. Values
are 0 and 32.
DBCC results for 'tableXXX'.
There are 44509926 rows in 946314 pages for object 'tableXXX'.
CHECKTABLE found 0 allocation errors and 2 consistency errors in table
'tableXXX' (object ID 1911677858).
repair_allow_data_loss is the minimum repair level for the errors
found by DBCC CHECKTABLE (CallAtl_CallPlatform.dbo.tableXXX ).

I don't know what these 2 errors mean and how to fix them.

Any ideas, let me know.

Thank you, all
Mark

It means you have some pretty serious corruption in that table and you may
loose some data to repair it.  As the error msg states you need to issue
CHECKTABLE with the repair_allow_data_loss to attempt to fix it.  Check out
DBCC CHECKTABLE in booksonline for more info.

You should never run repair as your first course of action. You should
always endeavor to have backups from which you can restore to avoid any data
loss. You should also investigate your SQL Server and NT logs to see if the
cause of the corruption ties with any hardware problems (the most likely
cause of the corruption). If you don't have a backup and/or need help
determining the cause of the corruption, please call PSS.

Regards,

Paul.
