DB-LIBRARY and SQL-Server 6 compatibility.

 DB-LIBRARY and SQL-Server 6 compatibility.
I have an application written using the SQL Server Programmers
Toolkit V4.2 for a SQL Server V4.2 database...

Can I upgrade the SQL Server to V6 and expect the application to
continue to run correctly? If not, what pitfalls should I be aware of?

Many thanks,

Steve W.

 DB-LIBRARY and SQL-Server 6 compatibility.

I have been using the 4.21 C dblib since the 6.00 did not work
with good old MSC 6.00. We have not experienced any dblib
related problems.
I have not used Cursors btw.

We have recently upgraded from 4.21a to 6.0. We are sporadically having problems
in some of our PB apps (using native drivers, not ODBC) where it will just grind
to a halt for about 15 to 30 seconds in different places.

I am currently in the speculative stage in localizing this problem, but on one
workstation we left the 4.21a client drivers, and upgraded another to the 6.0 client
utilities (both 16-bit versions). The 4.21 driver workstation still has had the
problems a  couple of times, whereas the 6.0 machine has not.

When the slowdown occurs, sp_who and sp_lock show no activity going on on the
database side, but the problem seems to occur after a large query would execute.

I haven't been testing with this setup long enough to to rule out chance since the
problem is so sporadic in nature, but am just wondering if anyone else has experienced
a similar situation.

Anyone in a similar boat?

-Steve
