i am attaching 2 database files Northwind.mdf and
Northwind_log.ldf
from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 7.0 and when i try to
execute a stored procedure it says

not a valid database file header , page audit property

Is it valid in the first place to perform this operation

if yes then what could be wrong

No, you cannot "downgrade" a database created in 2000 to 7.  You can try
using DTS.  BTW - Version 7 comes with its own Northwind database.
