Transact SQL Functions

 Transact SQL Functions

Hi - I've been developing databases with Access/Jet for a
few years, and I've now got a client who wants to upgrade
their database to SQLServer. I've been experimenting with
MSDE from Office 2000 disk.
One of the biggest problems here seems to be converting
queries - SQLServer doesn't seem to allow any VB functions
in queries, and the 'built-in' functions are rather
sparse.
Thinking I can write my own SQL functions to fill in the
gaps, it seems there's no such thing as a Transact SQL
Function, at least not in MSDE ....
Is there any way of writing functions, or using stored
procedures as functions in queries - there's no Help
documentation on this, so I assume it's not possible ...
but then, how can you create a usable database without
this feature?
Any feedback hugely welcomed,
Best wishes, Jon Bowen

 Transact SQL Functions

If you are on SQL Server 2000, then you could create functions. See CREATE
FUNCTION in SQL Server 2000 Books Online. Good luck!
