 Memory Usage question

I am using VB to access a SQL Service data base on a Win 2000 server Server.
I mostly run stored procedures.  Occasionally, I send a SQL statement.  When
I run the task manager on my server, I see that the sqlserver.exe takes up
more and more memory usage as time goes by, till I must stop the service and
restart it.  Should I be doing something from my VB programs to unload
something from the server memory?  Or is there something on the server I can
set to fix this, or is it just going to happen regardless?  If this is
unclear, please ask me to explain better.  I obviously need to learn more!

Thanks,

 Memory Usage question

SQL Server will use as much ram as is available on the server that it thinks
it can use by default.  This is by design.  It will not release any ram to
the OS unless the OS specifically calls for it.  It then might just grab it
back again if it thinks it can still use it. Since this process happens
automatically you shouldn't have to restart the server.  If you have other
processes on the server that require a certain amount of ram you should set
the upper memory limit in SQL Server to something less than the max and it
will not use above that.
