SQL Executive thinks SQL 6.5 is version 0.00.000

SQL Executive thinks SQL 6.5 is version 0.00.000

When I try to start SQL Executive from the Enterprise Manager, it attempts
to start but does nothing.... If I try to start it from the Service Manager
it it returns a server-specific error 109. I noticed in the error log file
for the executive it says that SQL Executive can only be run on SQL version
6.5 or higher (which we're running 6.5), but earlier in the log it says that
SQL is version 0.00.000! I've looked on the KB for help, and it says to
check user rights (for the 109 error), yada yada yada.  The simplest
solution is to reinstall SQL server but it's a remote machine, without the
CD or setup files accessible! I'm tryin to figure out if there is a simpler
way to resolve this problem, thanks in advance!

Brian,

You can run setup remotely, or use regedt32 to fix the registry permissions
remotely.
