DTS - asked for password in linked tables

Dear all

I have an Access database to pull data from.  The Database has a number of
linked tables.  When in Access I am not prompted for the password ever again
once the link has been made and I set the property "Run permission ->
Users" under Tools/Options in Access.  But, when I try to create a DTS
package, specify a query that uses the linked table and execute it, it asks
me for a password.

Is there any way I can set some sort of property in DTS to automatically
enter the password for the linked table so I can run the DTS unattended??

Cheers

Chris

I don't have a DTS screen in front of me... but If I remember correctly...
right click on the Access data source you added to the package, go to the
advanced tab and you should see a place to enter user name and password... I
think that should do it for you...

DTS - asked for password in linked tables
Brian, hi Brian, nup, doesnt work :)

I have used Access, created a linked query and altered the ODBC properties
so that the password is always specified.  Now I use DTS to use the query
from the Access DB and everything is fine.  This was because DTS would
DrWatson when I tried to view the transformations when using v3.x Multisoft
ODBC driver to Multisoft (financials system).

Btw, DTS doesnt seem to OPEN excel documents, my previous idea was to create
a query in excel and have it "refresh" my external queries when the file was
opened (non-batch refresh) but this doesnt work, seems that DTS
transformation from excel doesnt actually "open" the excel file, just seems
to such data directly from the sheet(s).

Cheers

Chris
