 Connecting to Remote SQL Server

Hi All

I am in a situation where I need to connect to a SQL Server across the
Internet. The remote server contains around 300 or so databases (maybe
more - I've not counted them). Problem is, when I go to connect thru
enterprise manager it can take up to 40 minutes to expand the databases
item.

This gets frustrating when there is only one database that I want to use. Is
there a faster way of telling enterprise mgr to connect to just one of the
databases rather than loading the details of all 300? Have I missed
something?

Cheers

Grant

 Connecting to Remote SQL Server

Hi,

Try to create a ODBC DSN with the option "Change the default database" and
choose your database.

The first time you try to do this it will take several minutes but I thinks
that the next time it will be faster.

Good luck
