You are probably getting timeouts.  I would go with a manual synch to get it
going.

SQL7->Access 2000->Merge Replication

We have a wide area network with one slow connection through a router.

When we try small a database, we get no errors.

When we use the real database -30MB, we get the error - "no current record"
when trying to initialise the subscriber.

Any help appreciated

Stop all processing at publisher, backup database, restore to subscriber,
subscribe with no synch, open system for processing.
