rebuilding an index(s) to defragment the index
When I run DBCC dbreindex ('table') the process says all the indexes are
rebuilt but when I check fragmentation with "DBCC SHOWCONTIG (tableid,
indexid) it doesn't show that the index was compacted.

Do I need to run "UPDATE STATISTICS table" to get the correct numbers. I
have autoupdate for statistics set on the database.

Does dbcc dbreindex always work ?

Does the table have a clustered index on it? I believe you need one in order
to remove the fragmentation.
