 Linked tables in Access not fetching enough records

I am sure that my dillema is an easy one for some but I cannot seem to
figure it out....

We have SQL 7 running on 256MB of ram and are attempting to access the data
using Access 97 using linked tables through ODBC.  The problem is that in
when we view the table it only fetches about 230 records at a time.  We
don't have this problem when viewing the data directly in the SQL tables
using the MMC.

We have tried various settings in the Access end to no avail.  I should also
note that when we try to access the data from a form in Access and use the
record arrows to move forward and back it goes in increments of 10...

If anyone has ANY thoughts on this issue your help would be much
