 Advantages......

1) Advantages of Access 97 over MS SQL 6.5
There are dozens of  different reasons why you pick one or the other, my
most important ones are: multi-user or not (no = Jet, yes = SQL Server),
where does it need to run workstation = jet, server = SQL Server,
administration local user or none = Jet, remote = SQL Server, scalability
requirements yes = SQL Server, no = Jet. Remember that Jet is a very smart
file based ISAM that runs in the client process context, and SQL Server is a
independent service. That makes a huge difference. Start with that concept
and go from there would my advise be.

2) Advantages of VB 6.0 over VC++ and Delphi
Depends on your databases, if you choose Jet VB and Delphi offer more canned
functionality, you can do the same in VC with much more work, but also with
more control. For SQL Server I would prefer VB and VC right now, because
Delphi still did not update there BDE from DB-Lib to something like ODBC or
OLE-DB, this will not hurt you against 6.5 but definitely against 7.0. I
terms of difficulty (easy to harder), VB, Delphi, VC, the same is true for
control.

3) Advantages of using Data Manager over Crystal Report
If you use the VB 6 DataReport, I think Crystal has more functionality to
offer, but also look at the cost, in my opinion the DataReport is not
finished.

4) Advantages of using DAO over ADO and RDO in Visual Basic
DAO is great if you are using JET databases, but are really limited when it
comes to SQL Server client server development, if you want performance and
control you have to switch to DAO ODBCDIRECT, which is DAO without Jet
interference, so almost the same as RDO. RDO is good if you ONLY target SQL
Server and Oracle, but based on ODBC. ADO is Microsoft's strategic
direction, so I expect the most development and enhancements in that area,
but ADO had some {*filter*} backwards compatibility problems and is based on OLE
DB which means there are not that many good and solid providers out there
today, but ADO for sure has more possibilities and potential than the other
