symbolic link / virtual database

 symbolic link / virtual database
Is there any way to create "virtual databases" (or symbolic links) in SQL
2000 so that they show up as say  DB_PROD1 in Enterprise Manager / Query
Analyzer (and have all the features of a database except storage) but
actualy point to a "real" database (say DB_OCT or DB_NOV with storage and
all) on the same server ?

Thanks,

 symbolic link / virtual database

Not with sqlserver.

You *could* fake something like that by actually create a db and a whole
bunch of views that are pointing to another database. I wouldn't recommend
this, however.

Shashank,

you can do exactly this using the MetaMatrix Server.

Please leave a message on our website describing your project and contact
details - mention my name if you want to know more & the message will bypass
the sales group & come straight to me.
