 Getting rid of 'FindFast' Commands

Group,

We migrated an Access App that originally had Access as the database.  We
migrated to SQL 7.0.

How can I easily convert those pesky and slow 'FindFast' command to SQL
commands or other DAO commands?

Thanks,

Ray Paganini

 Getting rid of 'FindFast' Commands

what is a findfast command? never heard of it.

what you need to do is learn T-SQL and how to write stored procedures.
the less code you have in Access the better. start with SQL
booksonline. also, see Michael Hotek's web site to download free t-sql
tutorials -- www.mssqlserver.com. there's also links to the FAQ there.

 Getting rid of 'FindFast' Commands
If the original app was using DAO, I suggest you take the time to port it to
using ADO instead.  DAO is NOT well suited for SQL Server access.

Get rid of any list-search mentality in the apps, and move more of the logic
to the SQL statements so it only contains the relevant records.  If you
still need to look for a particular record in the recordset, use the ADO
Find method.

I don't know if this is quite what you wanted, but...

HTH,
Tore.
