 Storing a 288 field table

 The max is 250. Do you really need that many columns in one table? This is
sometimes an indication that the database is not well normalized. That's OK
as long as there was a conscious decision to do so...

You can vertically partition your table if you need more than 250 columns.
Create a second table with the same PK and stored the extra columns in the
second table.
