connecting to sql server 2000 via perl from unix

I am curious if anyone has a good, quick method for
connecting to sql server 2000 from unix (tru64) via a perl
script.  We had this dialed in pretty well under version
6.5, but we recently upgraded to 2000 and now the specific
module (FreeTDS) that we were using no longer works.

We are trying to not install any odbc drivers on our unix
box.  So if anyone has any alternative ideas I would
appreciate it.

Thanks.
