Alternative Regular Cube creation besides Cube wizard/Editor method

Please I would appreciate any information for performing
alternative Regular Cube creation besides using Cube
Wizard/Editor GUI under SQl Server 2000 Analysis manager.
Are there any programs, Tools or scripting language that
can be used to generate or create a new cube or update an
existing MOLAP cube? We can automate Fact/dimension table
creation and loading but have no clue on dealing with
Regular cube.

I also have problem locating "MDX Builder" dialog window
to test local cube creation using MDX expression
statement. How do I access that GUI from what place in SQL
server Analysis manager tool or is it launched from
outside? What is the best tool to execute MDX from beside
VB program. The MDX sample application does not work very
well. I have SQL server 2000 with SP2 for Analysis Server
installed and running.

Thanks for any and all guidance.

Mosaic Interactive offers a DSO/XML Conversion Library that is specifically
designed to solve problems like the one you describe.  There are both 7.0
and 2000 versions of this conversion library and each come with a 30-day
fully functional free trial period.

With no native way to reverse-engineer OLAP/Analysis Services solutions, it
can be a real challenge to move a solution from a development environment to
a production environment.  Without portability, OLAP/Analysis Services
solutions (to this point in time) are either a do-it-yourself proposition or
an on-site consulting services situation.  The DSO/XML Conversion Library
allows developers to develop OLAP/Analysis Services solutions in one place
and deliver them in another.  Thus, OLAP/Analysis Services solutions can be
deployed and maintained anywhere without the need for an in-house expert.
This tool is specifically designed to enable the third-party development of
OLAP/Analysis Services solutions as products, with lower price tags, (much)
quicker implementation timeframes, and wider audiences.

It is worth noting that the DSO/XML Conversion Library does not script
individual aggregations. Rather, at a partition level, the library offers
several XML nodes designed to help manage aggregation design on the
destination: AccumulatedSize, AggregationsCount, and PercentageBenefit. The
AccumulatedSize and AggregationsCount values are taken from size (in bytes)
and the number of aggregations in the partition.  By default, the
PercentageBenefit value is always 50.  These three values are used by the
PartitionAnalyzer on the destination server to build appropriate

It is also worth noting that the DSO/XML Conversion Library accurately
counts the number of members at each level in each dimension and sets this
value for you on the destination automatically.  This is significant as
these member counts greatly influence aggregation design.

Check it out at and please
let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
