Novell and SQL SERVER 7.0 <---Null Login Failures.

Novell and SQL SERVER 7.0 <---Null Login Failures.

Connection failed:
SQLState: '37000'
SQL Server Error: 18452
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Drive] [SQL Server] Login failed for user
'(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted
SQL Server connection.

Our environment:

SQL SERVER  NT4.0 / SQL Server 7.0 all the latest service packs. Mixed Mode
Authentication. Accessing from any type of APP. (A reboot,  ie.  fresh
security token,  usually fixes the problem)
NOVELL network Version 5.1

Thank you so much,  this problem is intermittent.  Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Novell and SQL SERVER 7.0 <---Null Login Failures.

Most services run under the local system account aka null session. This
account cannot be authenticated over any network.
Your options are...
#1 run the service under a specific account
#2 connect to the database using sql server authentication
#3 othe less desirable options like disabling security
My book describes the issues in more detail.

Novell and SQL SERVER 7.0 <---Null Login Failures.
Thanks Randy,

Sorry,  I should have provided more detail in my original post.  I think
this is not a 'service' issue.  It s running simple
queries over a network-->  the system is 90 percenmt reliable,  but
occasionaly,  we get the 'null' user issue and it hits us for a half hour or
so,  intermittently,  and then goes away again.

Thanks for any additional help you can provide.

Peter
