DTS Transformation is Too Slow to open between AS400 and SQL Server 2000
Hi

I am running SQL Server 2000 and I am attempting to
transform data from the AS400 System via ODBC connections.
SO after I create the two connections (Source = AS400 and
destination = SQL Server) I create the Transformation
between them. However, If I go back to edit the
transformation and I double-click on it it takes forever
to open up.
I know that it can be related to the Network connection
but How and where do I look to fix the problem?

Thanks.

The problem is in that the connection that is being used first enumerates
all of your AS400 objects that are in any libraries that you may have
defined in your dsn.

I have been pulling from an AS400 using different drivers over the years and
have seen no way around the problem.

Client Access is the fastest though.  Just remember to limit your dsn to one
specific Library and you will minimize the time for the transformation
dialog to appear.
