16 tables involved in a query limit

Has  the 16 tables involved in a query  limit been increased in SQL
Server 7.0? I seem to be running into this limit quite frequently especially
in views and in tables which are lookups for many other tables in the
database. I do not run into such a limit in Oracle, Informix, DB2 or
Interbase. Either their limits are
significantly greater than SQL Server or they have no limit in terms of
number of tables involved in queries.

This limit and a number of other issues really point out SQL Server's
weakness  when compared to most other DBMS's.

The query optimizer has been completely rewritten for 7.0, and it
appears to have been quite well done.  Unlike 6.5's which is better
called a query processor than a query optimizer, 7.0's is ready for
the big time.  I don't know if it has a hard limit, but if it does,
it's lots more than 16.

Yes the new limit is 256, but don't get too giddy about it just yet... I
have done some testing.... And I've discovered

Just because you can...
Doesn't mean you should!
