 Need Helpful experienced insite.

I have come across a new situation and need some help.  I currently, have
two db's up on a live server.  These are the sites live db's.  On my
development server, I have copies of the same two db's with the same names.
What I am trying to do is, link the live db's on the dev server.  I have
successfully linked them now, but do not know how to call to them to query
from.  Do I need to change all of my sql statements to the
'linked_server_name.catalog.schema.object_name' syntax to query the live db
from the development server?  And what about names?  Since the names of the
DB's have been the same on the live and dev versions, do I have any naming
conflicts?  Any help and advice would be much appreciated.  Also, I'm not
sure if I have done this correct so if somebody could give me an overview of
what they would do I would like to look at your overview.

thanks.

Erik
