Hi - I have been getting the following error message at the same place
in a long running process.  This occurs after about 5 mins into the last
step. Both the step with the error and the prior step use explicitly
defined tempdb tables extensively. Once this error has occured a
re-run directly of this step are always successful.

97/09/05 15:30:10.76 spid18   Error : 602, Severity: 21, State: 15
97/09/05 15:30:10.76 spid18   Could not find row in Sysindexes for dbid
'2', object '190580458',index '1'. Run DBCC CHECKTABLE on Sysindexes.

The database for dbid 2 is tempdb. The following is a copy of the DBCC
checks of tempdb. Note that the left over tables in tempdb which
currently cause errors for the DBCC checkdb go away when SQL server is
cycled.

Thanks a lot for any help

Tim,

Does the problem reappear if you restart SQL Server (i.e., rebuild tempdb)?

works OK given that it has failed once.  I have not tested whether a
cycle of SQL server after the prior step and before this step has run,
removes the problem.  It would not be a practical solution when this
application makes it to production anyway. I have a feeling that a
specific condition in the data the application is working with is making
this happen although the SQL server response is clearly inappropriate.
The process has worked with smaller scale test data with no problems
occuring.

Thanks again

Tim,

I would start by checking the hardware with the machine vendors diagnostics
programs. I would also runf SQLHDTST.EXE to stresstest the HW (you can
download it from MS web, or Technet CD).

Or, if you think that the problem is at the "logical" kevel, there's
nothing else to do except to isolate the problem "SQL" and reproduce it, I
suppose.

I don't remember what sp you are running, but that might be a "desperate"
attempt as well...
