Moving DTS Package

 Moving DTS Package

I am having problems changing the Source and Destination databases for my
package.  I am using UDL files, which makes it easy for me to set the
databases, but the problem is within each Transform Data Task.

In the Destination tab of the Transform Data Task Properties, the Table Name
seems to be fixed.  For example, If I create a package with a destincation
of "Northwind.dbo.Customer" and then I reconfigure the UDL to a different
server with a different database name (e.g. server2 -->
"NewDatabase.dbo.Customer"), the task doesn't seem smart enough to
reconfigure itself.  Do I have to use the same database names for the
destination and the source?

Thanks,
Gerard

Hello, Gerard!

You need to set the DestinationObjectName

A way to avoid this is when you create the package in the Data Pump wipe out
what SQL Server puts in the box and just type in the name of the table so
instead od Northwind.dbo.Customers you would have Customers

Allan,

Thanks!  I'll give this a shot.
