 Cant initialize pull subscriptions using ftp in Merge Replication

Hi,

we have set up a SQL Server 2000 to publish some tables using merge
replication. These tables are compressed and stored by the Snapshot Agent in
an ftp directory. This directory is perfectly accessible from the subscriber
using a ftp client, all rights and files are in place.
However, when I try to initialize the subscription, I get the following
messages:

...
* Snapshot files will be downloaded via ftp
* Snapshot will be applied from a compressed cabinet file
* Connecting to ftp site '##a lot of illegible chars##'
* The subscription has been marked for reinitialization. Reinitialization
will occur the next time you synchronize this subscription.
* Category:NULL

  Number:  -2147201001
  Message: The schema script '' could not be propagated to the subscriber.
* Category:AGENT
  Source:  MYSUBSCRIBER
  Number:  0
  Message: The process could not connect to FTP site '##same sort of
illegible chars##' using port 21.
* Category:OS
  Source:
  Number:  12007
  Message: Could not resolve server name or its address
...

I have read some people having the same problem and they solved it by
applying SP2 to all computers involved in the replication, but it seems I
can't install SP2 to my subscriber. Subscriber is a Windows XP running SQL
Desktop Engine. Can someone confirm me that this issue will be corrected by
applying Desktop Edition SP2? And how? I have read the info in

Thanks to all in advance.

 Cant initialize pull subscriptions using ftp in Merge Replication

Hi,
  What is the client path to this folder from ftproot you
gave under
Publication Properties->SnapshotLocation tab in FTP
section?

You need to give this as sub directory from ftproot.
ex: If your FTP path is c:\inetpub\ftproot\data.
Sql Server creates ftp directory under this when the
Snapshot is created as you enabled for FTP.

You have to give the
client path to this folder from ftproot as
\data\ftp
and then re-initialize and synchronize.

Regards,
Ravi
