Is there any way to go about reducing the size of my transaction log? I do
daily backups every night. I thought this was supposed to "truncate" the log
which makes it smaller?

My stats are currently 1664 megabytes in size and 1411 is available.

The transaction log is 1347 megabytes.

Truncating doesn't make the physical log smaller, just the logical log

To shrink the log take a look at DBCC SHRINKFILE in BOL
