Error 927 when trying to restore from dump :-(

I have a newly created database -- not created for load.
I am trying to restore from a dump ('disk' dump onto a drive on the
server).
When going through the enterprise manager, I do the following:
specify I want to do a restore,
select the 'from device' option,
add my files
then click 'restore now'.

The process hangs for a minute, and then I receive the following
message:

Error 927:  [SQL Server]  Database "" cannnot be opened - it is in the
middle of a load.
No choice but to click okay, and then I receive this message:  Restore
of Database "" completed.

I then do a refresh on my databases, and the database I tried to restore
is now in the loading status.
It shouldn't be --

What's going on?

Thanks in advance!!
