problem upgrading more than 1 server with sql server 2000 upgrade wizard

I am running a test upgrade of sql server 6.5 to 2000. I
had run the upgrade wizard previously against another
server.

When I attempt to run the upgrade wizard to upgrade
databases on a different server I get a message stating...

You have already started upgrading from <servername>. You
cannot consolidate <servername> into <servername>. The
export server name has been changed to the server you
already started to upgrade.

?? Is there any way to upgrade a different server without
having to reinstall the sql server software?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich

Rich - no supported way - this is the way the wizard was deliberately
designed to eliminate the security issues caused by consolidating databases
that might have different user accounts withthe same names (ie SuperUserX in
db1 would be migrated, then you'd pull in db2 from another server and if it
had a database account SuperUserX then it would have access to both
databases, automatically with no warning.

You could install a temporary second instance, migrate the database to that
instance, detach/attach it to the original instance then uninstall the
temporary instance

Hope this helps
