 Repairing a corrupt MSAccess database?

Hi.

I know this is a SQL Server newsgroup, but I've tried the
office newsgroups and got no-where with this so I'm
turning to you expert SQL guys as a last ditched attempt.
Hope you don't mind!

I've got a corrupt production MSAccess(97).mdb database
which I badly need to repair / re-construct if possible.
I've been told that there are some 3rd party tools which
are available that may be able to help, but after much
searching, alas, I've come up with nothing yet. :c/

If anyone could point me in the right direction for one of
these (mythical?) tools, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Regards,
David reynolds.
PS - I'm already porting to MSSQL2000. (c;

 Repairing a corrupt MSAccess database?

David,

Which part is corrupt - the tables (data) or the code. If the latter you can
start by using the repair utility included in Access, (Tools, Repair
Database). If that doesn't work, try the /decompile startup switch, (more
info at http://www.mvps.org/access/bugs/bugs0008.htm ) Or else create a new
database and import all the objects. Do a search for database corruption in
google.groups under newsgroup *access* and you'll get hundreds of hits.

If the data is corrupt and the tables are not too big, try exporting to
spreadhsheets and cleaning them up there, then re-import to the database.
Otherwise you might have to get  hold of one of the commercial recovery
firms such as http://www.pksolutions.com

 Repairing a corrupt MSAccess database?
David,

In addition to other posts - try linking to the tables through *queries* in
another database. Access 97 has a bug allowing you to connect to corrupted
databases.

Linking through queries:
SELECT *
FROM Table1 IN 'c:\corrupted.mdb'

Please reply to newsgroups. Inclusion of table schemas (CREATE TABLE
scripts), sample data (INSERT INTO....) and desired result set when asking
for assistance is highly appreciated

 Repairing a corrupt MSAccess database?
I have experienced this as well.  I move all my objects to
a new db and everything works fine.
