 Backup Device problems...please help!..

I am trying to write to an optical disk drive E:\
Here is my code:

where studyid = (SELECT studyid FROM clab2_rev.dbo.Optical_Save)

USE master
EXEC sp_dropdevice 'clab2_bk'

-- Back up the database.

BACKUP DATABASE backupdata TO CLAB2_bk

__________

I am getting the following error:

E:\MSSQL\BACKUP
File 'E:\MSSQL\BACKUP
' closed.
Device dropped.
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your
system administrator.

(1 row(s) affected)

'Disk' device added.
Server: Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 13
Cannot open backup device 'CLAB2_bk'. Device error or device off-line. See
the SQL Server error log for more details.
Server: Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 13

Does anyone know why I can't backup to a removeable Optical disk??

Thanks!

A couple of things look wrong.

(based on the way the drop message is formatted).  This might just be a
cut-and-paste error...

Second is that you have to specify a specific file (not a directory) when
you run the backup.  SQL Server doesn't do any sort of filename generation
during backup (the names that Enterprise Manager uses are chosen by
Enterprise Manager).
