Paradox: table and index with different sort orders

Paradox: table and index with different sort orders

One of our users has many tables which he cannot access because of a common
error: "table and index have different sort orders". This is probably because
the files have been moved between different PCs with differently configured
Paradox setups.

Is there an easy way to fix this problem?  The only suggestions I have so far
involve reentering many sets of data manually. That has been described as
character-building.

Cheers

Delete the .PX file with DOS, then go back into Paradox and restructure the
table, starring the field(s) to be indexed.  Note: these kinds of
corruptions, either easily recoverable as is this problem, or not
recoverable, occur at times with all PC or network database products.
Paradox has less frequent problems than most.  A chief advantage of client-
server systems, such as Microsoft SQL server, is that they guarantee data
integrity and avoid such problems.  -- David Scheim

This problem was caused by two different PARADOX.SOR (or PDOXRUN.SOR if
you are using the runtime version) files residing in the two machines.
I recommend you to ask the user to remove the current PARADOX.SOR file
(or renaming it) and copy one of ASCII.SOR, INTL.SOR, NORDAN4.SOR,
NORDAN.SOR and SWEDFIN.SOR as PARADOX.SOR depending on which sort order
were used when installing Paradox in the machine where the tables are
copied from.
