RW Help! Can not print a tab

        ********        H E L P   W A N T E D   ******

I know this is going to sound trivial but I can not get it to work.

All I want to do is have a horizontal tab printed in a report-writer script.

Any one got the solution ?

Back last summer, the same question was asked here and Mark Jaeger of the
University of Chicago posted a solution.  I've had that solution squirreled
away since then.  Here was Mark's posting:

Note that I believe this only works in 6.4, since it didn't work for me in
6.3 at the time (we've since moved to 6.4).

You can't do it directly with the report writer in its current state
(INGRES version 6.4/02).  Believe me, you're not the first person that
ever asked for this, and this question has come up repeatedly in this
conference.  The report writer won't print any of the standard ascii
carriage control characters, ^H through ^M (BS, HT, LF, VT, FF, CR).

The workaround is to ask report writer to print an unusual character

character to the one you want (i.e., tab) using an editor or filter.

Thanks, Jim, but this doesn't work, despite indications of the RW
documentation to the contrary (I should actually _try_ the solutions I
broadcast--sorry, net readers).

The only workaround is to have RW print some strange character (like

into tab.
