I'm not having much luck using butil -recover.

I get a file and for the most part the data is ok, however some of the data
is still corrupted.  Is there a better utility out there that I can use to
convert my .dat files into plain text files?

No, I do not have the .ddf files.

Thanks in advance!

Your data is probably not corrupted!

There is many forms that data can be stored in. What you belives is
corrupted is correctly stored data (normaly number, currency etc). To
retrieve the data you need to know the record structure.

The one fix I have to use again and again is when Btrieve fecks up the
keys.  You have a create a completely blank btrieve file with no records
but exactly the same key structure etc.  Then do a BUTIL -COPY "oldfile"
"newfile" and wait for it to complete copying the records and lo and
behold the file corruption goes away.  Does anyone else know an easier
way to rebuild damaged keys ???    The fault fixed bu above was reported
as no probrem by BUTIL -SALVAGE btw :)
