 Where is the INGRES FAQ?

The INGRES FAQ (~230kb) is archived at:

   fractal.ucs.indiana.edu  (/pub/ingres)

thanks to Darrin Chaney.  (Please limit your use of this system during
office hours.  It is a workstation and Darrin has to use it to do his
job during the day.)  Updates to the FAQ seem to get posted every other
month at the moment, around mid-month--less frequently when I am
distracted by actual work.

The following is an example of the dialogue with the FTP server; lines
that include user input are marked with a `->' symbol:

->csh> ftp fractal.ucs.indiana.edu
  Connected to fractal.ucs.indiana.edu.
  220- *** /etc/motd.ftp *** [much stuff deleted]...

  220 fractal FTP server (Version 5.92 Tue Dec 14 10:42:52 EST 1993) ready.

  230 Guest login ok, access restrictions apply.
->ftp> cd /pub/ingres
  250 CWD command successful.
->ftp> get Ingres-FAQ
  200 PORT command successful.

  226 Transfer complete.

->ftp> quit
  221 Goodbye.

But wait, there's more!

Well, that was just to get your attention.  What there's more of is disk
space.  I've just installed a new disk, and moved stuff around, so I
have about 450MB of free space.

So, what's in it for you?  It depends.  I'm going to get my WWW server
back up and going, and I've got room to add stuff to the ftp server.
Hopefully, I'll be able to make some more stuff available via WWW in the
future, as well as more anon ftp stuff.

If anyone has anything (note: anything) to submit to the NAIUA tool set,
please do so.  The guidelines for submission are on fractal (anon ftp)
in /pub/ingres/utilities/NAIUA/00README.  From the Web, look at
"http://fractal.ucs.indiana.edu/Ingres/NAIUA/Tools_Sub.html".  It
includes a link to the ftp directory, so you can transfer using your Web
browser if you prefer (I do).

Anyway, enjoy.  As time permits, I'll hopefully be able to include more
stuff there, both in Web and ftp.
