 ODBC for Raima Data Manager
Is anyone aware of commercially available ODBC driver for Raima Corporation's
Raima Data Manager (formerly db_Vista)?  Note that I'm interested in RDM, not
Velocis.  Thanks in advance.

I have been able to install the Windows Stand-alone version of Velocis and
query the data files from Raima Data Manger using the Velocis ODBC driver.
There is no ODBC driver for RDM, and I am virtually certain that Raima will
never produce one - I've been badgering them for years.  Since I like and use
RDM, I use it in the usual way for programmatic updating of data, and use the
Velocis/ODBC trick for casual query (with MS Access) and report writing.

Yup, the above solution definitely works.  And is probably suitable for in-house
applications.  But if you're deploying an application to the marketplace, then you've got
to worry about distributing two products and, unless the policy on Windows stand-alone has
changed, runtime fees for Velocis.

Raima has considered an ODBC driver for RDM.  The services subsidiary (Vista Development)
has talked with a number of Raima's clients about creating one under a consulting
agreement.  Unfortunately, none have been able to justify the cost.

Keep making noise, they do listen.
