 ADO Permissions question

I am having to grant the db_owner role to my users so they can use the
queryschema capabilities of ADO.  I don't like doing this as it allows them
to modify structures.  If they log into iSQL and run queries against the
actual system tables (like syscolumns, sysindexes, etc) they get the results
just fine.  Why doesn't ADO's queryschema work without extra permission?
