 Problem with synchronous transactions

I am looking for some insight into the "guts" of ADO here.
We have an application using ADO to "talk" to a MSSQL 2000 server.
Each thread of the application opens its own connection to the
same database and executes commands in synch. Even though the commands
affect different records in the database, we are still experiencing
a sequential response. In another scenario, we have two
threads which try to open a connection to two different databases in
different machines. Again, the response is sequential.

Any way to improve ADO's behavior?? Is this as good as it gets??
