VFP with ORACLE 7.3

 VFP with ORACLE 7.3
Hi,

I've got a view on an ORACLE 7.3 table. The table has 3 colums. On the
1rst column there is a Primary Key. When creating the view with the
disgner I made the view updatable with a SQL-UPDATE. Whenever I change
a value and move to another record I get a update conflict. I Have to
revert before I can continue. I do leave the PK alone an I only change
one of the other fields. I'm using an ODBC dirver from ORACLE for the
connection.

Any ideas?

BTW
Doing the update with an sql-command with SQLPLUS does the work fine.

This is caused by duplicated or missing expression of primary key.
I must tell VFP what is primary key. It is needed to perform update
statement:   update .... set ....= ..... where ???? VFP must know
which records should be updated.

After much pain and hassle I got this to work. Check this :
-numeric fields: if you use a comma as separator you need the MS ODBC
driver. You lose the values after the comma with some drivers.
-check to see if you have set the "send sql updates" box.
-date fields are a problem with datetime and date formats. Use
"ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT 'DD.MM.YYYY' " to solve this.
-check your DBO entry. If you can't get it to work, you will have to
revert to SQL-PassThru and set the UpdatableFieldList and UpdateFields
by hand.
-There is a huge bug in the cursor logic of VFP when you do a "SELECT
... SUM(X) GROUP BY. The cursor loses the decimals on the second time
you select into the same cursor. I don*t know if this is
country-specific.
I can send you some code which works.
