Changes in screen size from Win95 to Win3.1?

Changes in screen size from Win95 to Win3.1?

I recently developed an application using FPW2.6 with Stonefield Appmaker
2.6d under Win95.  The application looked fine in all of the screen
resolutions that I tested it under (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768) on the
Win95 machine on which it was developed.  The application, however, needs
to run on a laptop running Win3.1 using 640x480 screen resolution.  I
assumed that if it looked good in 640x480 on the Win95 machine, it would
look fine in 640x480 under Win3.1 on the laptop.  That assumption seems to
be wrong.  When the application was run, the login screen appeared, and the
text to the left of the user name entry appeared to be too large and was
cut off (i.e. it merely said "User N" instead of the full "User Name").
When the logo screen appeared, it too had the same type of problem.  The
name of the app was "The Price Analyzer" and only "The Price An" was
showing.  Also, a "Position is off the screen" error message appeared.  It
looked as if the window itself didn't size itself properly and therefore
the text didn't have enough room.  I read the manual :) (maybe not the
right pages) and found on pg. 33 that "only TrueType fonts such as Arial
and Courier New" should be used.  I do know that the font of the logo
screen is Times New Roman for "The Price Analyzer" text and I made sure
that on the other screens, which I created myself, used only Arial and they
still seemed to face this same problem.  In a fit of desperation, I
re-compiled the app on the laptop and still faced the same results.  Is
there anything I can do besides completely re-sizing the screens and/or
changing all of the fonts?  Any help is IMMENSELY appreciated.

Was the display on the laptop set to 'Large Fonts'? That can be a real
pain. Test your app with a 'Large Fonts' display to check this out.

[ snipped: wrong text size and "Position is off the screen" when ran
on Win 3.1 laptop with 640*480 resolution; all fonts used are
True-Type ]

One thing to check: the main FoxPro window (SCREEN) itself may have
default font MS San Serif, which is _not_ a true type, and which has
known problems with scaling.  All windows are defined in terms of
default font of base window, so there may be your problem. To change
default screen font press Shift before selecting "Text" from system
menu (development environment).  There is also some CONFIG.FPW setting
to take care of this (sorry, don't have it handy).
