How to get rid of locations
We're doing some restructuring of databases and locations and want to
get rid of some locations and move other named locations to a different
area.  There doesn't seem to be any way of removing a location in
accessdb that I can see.  Is there a supported way to do this?

Thanks

I don't know of any supported way to remove a location from an
existing database, nor any supported way to "undefine" a location.
The latter is easier, simply delete from iilocations in the iidbdb.
Removing a location from a database is hard.  You have to either
a) fiddle with the cnf file (assuming of course that the location in
question is empty of any database data);  or b) dump the database and
reload it.  There is no supported way to do (a).

I have a notion that there might be "internal" db procedures to add and
remove locations from databases, but I've never had the need to explore
in that direction.  Anyone else know?

Thanks, I ended up just destroying iidbdb.  The databases were copies of
other databases and were easy enough to recreate and reload.  I tried
manipulating iilocations but always got a no grant or table doesn't
belong to you message.  I did an isql -u'$ingres' iidbdb and still got
the messages :-(.
