btrieve application as NT-Service?

 btrieve application as NT-Service?
Hi,
we plan to access btrieve-data-files from a NT-Service-program: this
service should run on a NT-client which is connected to a NT-Server
running Pervasice SQL 2000 server engine.

Is this possible? i.e. can the Btrieve-Client run as a service too?

 btrieve application as NT-Service?

Likely, the main problem will be that you need to make sure that the service
is running in the context of a user who has rights to the files on the
server...

 btrieve application as NT-Service?
Yes it is, providing you follow the MS rule for services.
Rule #1 that I know of is "No Mapped drives".
If you are using ODBC then this is a non-issue.
If you are using the Btrieve API, just use UNC to the data and all
should be good.
Rule #2, rights are granted based on the user the service is logged in
as.  If you use the default "system" account,  just make sure it has
the rights it needs.  The rights I am talking about need to be granted
on the target server, not necesarily the client machine unless you are
using local files and resources as well.
