XML standard format for hypercube exchange
Hi,

is anybody aware of accepted standards (probably Document Type
Definitions) for exchanging hypercubes in the form of  XML code ?

Thanks for your assistance

Perhaps not XML, but you could consider the newly-evolving Data Space
Transfer Protocal http://www.ncdm.uic.edu/dstp/

Kind regards

The XMI specification, which you can find at http://www.cwmforum.org,
was demonstrated at the last OMG meeting with data exchange between
Oracle, DB2, SAS, Unisys, and others.   I think the Metadata Consortium
is linking up with this group, too.

Microsoft has posted a draft, version 0.6, of their XML for Analysis
spec.   As usual you need windows to extract the document
from the XMLAnal;ysis.exe file.
It is below http://www.microsoft.com/data which says:

XML for Analysis Beta Specification is Available Microsoft is proud to
announce the release of the XML for Analysis specification. The XML
for Analysis specification advances the OLE DB standard by allowing
standardized, universal data access to analytical data sources (OLAP
and Data Mining) residing over the web. The specification is built
upon open standards and is independent of platform, language or
technology. XML for Analysis is built upon HTTP, XML and SOAP Internet
standards and is specifically optimized for web services
interaction. To download the specification, please click here.

This specification is open for public feedback from 10/30/00 to
1/15/01. An updated specification will be posted approximately
1/30/01. Please visit regularly as updates will be posted on this
site. Feedback can be sent to XML for Analysis Feedback, or you can
post and monitor feedback on the user group
microsoft.public.data.xmlanalysis.

I would love to see similar draft specs from Oracle, Essbase, etc.

Hopefully helpfully yours,
Steve
