Turning cache off on a Seagate drive under AIX - Progress/AIX/Seagate don't mix

There is a know problem with Seagate Hawk drives and AIX.  In particular,
under Progress database, the database will drop offline due to caching
problems with the drive.  The solution is to turn off caching on the Seagate
drive.  Unfortunately, the only way it can be done is on a PC w/SCSI under
DOS.  Worse yet, I've already rolled out 60 AIX systems with Seagate drives
and there's no PC at those sites with SCSI.

Is there a way to set the drive cache bit on the Seagate drive under AIX?  Is
there source code out there to access the SCSI drive bits?
