Is it possible to access odbc datasource from another machine through java
Hi,

I have a servlet running on a Solaris machine. This code needs to
access a MS Access database on another machine(Windows). If I create a
datasource name on the Windows machine, is it possible to remotely
access from the servlet? Pls help. (Our client changed the requirement
at the last moment - earlier the application server was running on the
Windows machine too)

Regards,
Sony Jose

No; the only way I know of to accomplish this is via RDS (Remote Data
Services). This allows data and object requests via HTTP to be handled
locally on the Windows machine. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not
redistribute RDS for Sun operating systems.
