Help needed with File maker pro

I have a file like this:

        ID        Code
         1           A
         1           A
        1            A
        2            C

I want to select the unique records(unique in ID) in this file, so that
I will have 2 records left. If I use omit dupicate records, I will have
1(ID = 2) record left, and I dont want that.

I can't find a way to do this, so I tried to write a script.

First I defined a global field called rID to hole the ID value. Then I
performed this
script:

        Enterbrowse mode
        Go to layout[layout1]
        Go to record first
        Set field["rID", "ID"]
        Go to record next
        Loop
           If ["ID = rID"]
               Omit
           Else
                Set field ["rID", "ID"]
Go to record[Exit after last, next]
           End if
       End loop

But this doesn't work, all it does is omitting the records which have no
value in ID field. Who can tell me how to do this ?

Thanks for any help !

You have the right idea. Try this

        Enter browse mode
        Go to layout [layout1]
Find All                            (Just in case you're in a
smaller found set)
        Sort                                    (Sort based on ID)
        Go to record first
        Clear [Select,rID]
        Loop
           If ["not ID = rID"]
                Set field ["rID", "ID"]
                Omit
           End if
Go to record[Exit after last, next]
         End loop
        Find omitted
