 D3/NT patch 280 - still

First, I would like to thank everyone that responded to my first post.
I am very pleased at how quickly you answered, including those from
employees at Pick Systems (does the fact that I sent a copy to

Tony's response until I did a search on Deja News 2 days ago (I have to
check with my ISP on that).

As Jay Adams pointed out part of the answer was in the README.TXT file,
however since I downloaded a README.TXT file with the patch, I
mistakenly assumed it was the same.  Besides that the second part of the
upgrade didn't work any way.  I kept getting an error message telling me
that FsiDm,bp is not a file name.

So after running a full save to a pseudo floppy, shutting down D3,
starting it with "d3vme.exe /fileload", getting a fresh install of the
DM account I restored the data accounts.  This corrected the problems I
was having.

What is left is that now certain programs that print to form 0, which is
set up as the parallel printer and is the only printer also used by NT
(the serial printers don't have this problem), will not print and hangs
the port that is running the program.

It seems that NT can't pass the print job to the printer and the
terminal never gets the signal that the print job is done.  The only way
to get it to print is to shut down D3.  The only thing that I can
determine from these programs is that they assume that the print job
closes when the program finishes (no "printer close" command), whereas
programs that specifically issue a "printer close" will actually print.

Has this been changed on purpose, and if so, is there a command or setup
option to make it work as before the patch?

Thanks for reading all the way through a long intro to a one line
question,

Rich Conley

How do you have this printer installed in D3?

Starting with 262, we found that we could no longer use the D3 Device Manager
to install the printer. Instead, we add to user-coldstart something similar to
the following:

dev-make -t NTPrinter -n 20 -a "\\computername\printername"
startptr 0,0,1,s20 (s

Hope this helps.
