OLE Automation of Microsoft Word
Author Message
 OLE Automation of Microsoft Word
I am creating a word document from within Visual FoxPro 6,
which is to be populated from data selected from a VFP
table.

I want the Word document to be formatted in two columns.
I have made many attempts at guessing the correct syntax
but without any success.

All other aspects of the Word Document, headers, footers,
paragraphs, text formatting, etc., are created perfectly.

Can anyone please advise what the correct syntax is?

Is there a central reference source for obtaining code for
OLE automation?

Many thanks.

YES, there is: www.hentzenwerke.com

Look at Microsoft Office Automation with Visual FoxPro

This is a very good literature.

Derek,
Much of the object model of Word can be learned from the help file and the MSDN site -
http://msdn.microsoft.com/default.asp (got to Library Office Solutions Development). For general
exploring of the model, VFP 7.0's intellisense can be quite usefull. For VFP specific info, consider
"Microsoft Office Automation with Visual FoxPro" at
http://www.hentzenwerke.com/catalogpricelists/autofox.htm

All the Office apps have a help file for programmers VB???.CHM. For Word
it's VBAWD9.CHM
You can open Word's object library with the Object Browser in Word by
pressing ALT+F11 then F2 or with the Object Browser in VFP7,.
A search on 'column' in VFP's ObjectBrowser wiht Word returnes 22 constants,
3 methods, 4 interfaces and 8 properties the contain the word 'column'.
The help file has lots of examplec code like this one in VBA, which easily
translates into FoxPro
With ActiveDocument.Sections(1).PageSetup.TextColumns
    .EvenlySpaced = True
    .LineBetween = True
End With
