fox pro commands - manual of syntax (dbase?)

hello NG!

i am using a commercial software based on foxpro 2.6.

i have an option to enter commands in a special window eg. to browse or
update data. i heard that i can use "normal" dbase commands here but i do
not know anything about the syntax. where can i find a manual for that
syntax and functions?

thanx

arno

additional info:

eg. what i can do:
use mydata
brow for left(nr,6)>"110000"

but i already have problems with AND in the for section. i have basic scills
in sql-syntax, i would need the corresponding commands for foxpro/dbase or a
way to use sql. i do not have any software for foxpro or dbase, for queries
i am using linked tables within ms access.

Arno,
I don't know of a web resources that show just the available syntax of FP
2.6. MS does have the complete help file for VFP 7.0 on-line, but many of
the FP specific commands are no longer there (just a link that says support
included for backward compatibility - use ... instead). I'd check ebay for
old books and reference manuals or try at
http://www.emsps.com/oldtools/msfox.htm they often have copies of old FoxPro
software and / or manuals.

No, I gave up on dbase ~12 years ago - FoxPro offered so much more! Note:
While much of the syntax was the same in the dbaseIII / FoxBase era they
diverged a lot until FP 2.6 when MS tried to get more dBase programmers to
switch. At that time they implemented a lot more of the dBase syntax, but
you'd still be missing all the FP specific syntax (and power!).
