 RedHat 7.2 : regression failure

I've read in news comp.databases.postgresql.hackers a message about
postgresql 7.2 : failure of regression test in RH 7.2 environment (date:
2002-01-23)

I've the same problem.
After many many many recompilation of PG 7.2 in a stable and clean RedHat
7.2 , i've always the same problem.

I've added and removed many times nls support, multibyte support, locale ... in
every possible combinations.
The result it's always the same.

Has anyone found a solution ??

BTW: I recompile postgresql-7.2-1PGDG.src.rpm  modifing SPEC file to exclude
TCL , TK , JDBC , ODBC , PYTHON, SSL, PLPERL , PLTCL , KERBEROS : I'm not
interested for these features.
I need a 'light' Postgres installation.

So the 'configure' is like this:
./configure --enable-locale --with-CXX --prefix=/usr --disable-rpath --with-
perl --enable-multibyte --without-tk --enable-syslog --enable-nls --sysconfd
ir=/etc/pgsql --mandir=/usr/share/man --docdir=/usr/share/doc --includedir=/
usr/include --datadir=/usr/share/pgsql

---------my regression test--------------

bash-2.04$ ./pg_regress --schedule=serial_schedule
(using postmaster on Unix socket, default port)

 RedHat 7.2 : regression failure

I reply myself to my previous email.

I've just now discovered a very strange thing.

I've get source tarball and I've compiled as described in INSTALL file
BUT
I've NOT run a 'make install'
I've used source tarball because I though an RPM problem.

BEFORE installation I've run pg_regress test as described in
src/test/regress/README

ALL test works OK (?!).
I've recompiled adding and removing many options in configure (also a
beautiful C/CXX FLAGS '-O3 -march=i686')
Always test are always OK

Then I do a make install.
Regression test made on installed source doesn't work as described in
my
previous email.
Always that 7 failures.

Is pg_regress buggy and postmaster work fine instead ?

Why is regression test perfect before installation and doesn't work
after installation ??
