I am a beginner so please bear with me...

I am using Delphi 1.0 16-bit, HP ALLBASE/SQL ODBC, Client/Server

I have a simple Data Aware form <below> that I'm having a couple minor
difficulties with.

Problem #1)

When I click on the TDBLookupCombo Box during runtime and select a
"period"
nothing happens, causing me to manually navigate using the DBNavigator.
I
would like to be able to select records for editing using a drop-down of
some
sort looking up by Period, the only <<search item>>.

Problem #2)

The dates in the DataBase are in yymmdd (970531) format.  I would like
to convert
them to mmddyy (053197) format for display and editing purposes and then
convert
them back before updating the DataSet.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated...
Thanx in advance!!

I dont really understand what you mean by this, sorry.

look at the displayformat property of the field in question.

its a little bit hidden, double-click on your table component (make sure
you have added all fields required!) and then click on the date field in
question, press F11 and change the displayformat (in the object inspector)
to dd/mm/yyyy or whatever (dddd, dd/mm/yyyy, etc).

this way you dont have to worry about any conversions as delphi does it all
for you...lovely aint it? :)
